Holding Quiet captures a moment of pause - the kind of stillness that arrives after intensity, when the body folds inward and the noise finally settles. Curled into herself, the figure becomes both shelter and strength, holding her own weight with tenderness rather than tension.

Painted as an exploration of rest as an active state, this work reflects the quiet resilience found in moments of withdrawal and reflection. Layers of colour, bloom-like forms, and a soft halo of gold move through her body, suggesting growth that happens beneath the surface. She is not retreating, but gathering - a visual expression of restoration, softness, and emotional clarity.

Part of my Blooming Veil series, Holding Quiet continues an ongoing exploration of vulnerability, renewal, and the space between movement and stillness. The work balances intimacy with expansiveness, inviting the viewer to slow down and connect with the subtle power of being present.
