My business already partners or sponsors a charity. Where does the artist fit into that existing relationship?
If you have an existing relationship, let me liaise with the charity to create a piece of work that resonates with their supporters. For example:
- You may sponsor a local zoo that may be raising money to expand an animal enclosure, e.g. I could paint the animal in question.
- You may sponsor an organisation that supports disadvantaged children, e.g. I could interview people at the charity or families that the charity supports & develop an artwork based on photographs of children supported by the charity.
My role would facilitate transparency of your existing relationship (including your brand & the associated cause) through social media promotion & marketing. Especially as my network are already inclined to purchase my artwork.
My business does not partner or sponsor a charity, but we would like to arrange a one-off fundraiser supporting an organisation in alignment with our business values, is that ok?
That's ok too! I can recommend organisations I have worked with in the past, or suggest a local charity I could approach for a smaller scale work. The charity would have to align with my work i.e. animal conservation, or social justice.
I don't want to organise a big charity auction, can you design an artwork for a specific product that we can use?
Yes! If you are a business that produces a product (e.g. food, wine, candles, clothing etc.) you can commission me to design an artwork that talks to your brand, with or without a charity involved.
However, we would have a licencing agreement that dictates how you can use my artwork for your products, as I retain the image rights (copyright).
Do you have any more information on your experience in working with charities or businesses?
I have worked as an employee for two non-profits in South Australia (Cancer Council SA & Diabetes SA) & I currently work as a volunteer company Director (No Barriers Education Foundation).
I have also worked as a management consultant involved in the evaluation/review of a number of non-government organisation programs & services, & in the development of business cases.
Project management & communication are important to me. All commissions (individual & corporate) are underpinned with a service argeement that includes timelines, milestones, payment schedule & risk management.
