I take on a small number of portrait commissions each year. These are original paintings, not quick sketches or digital portraits. Each piece is guided by your reference photos, the story behind the person and my own visual style.

  • Single-subject portrait from $1,800 AUD unframed
  • Minimum size 60 x 80 cm
  • Multi-subject portraits quoted individually
  • Framing and delivery quoted separately
  • 40% deposit required to secure your place

What kind of portrait can I commission?

Portrait commissions work best when there is a story, milestone or feeling behind the artwork. You might commission a portrait to mark a birthday, honour someone important, celebrate a personal transformation, or create a meaningful statement piece for your home.

The process

How it works

Step 1: Tell me your idea

Send a short outline of who the portrait is of, the story behind it and any timing you have in mind.

Step 2: Share reference photos

Good reference photos help me understand likeness, mood and personality. I can guide you if you are unsure what will work.

Step 3: Quote and deposit

I'll confirm the size, scope, framing and delivery needs using a Commission Agreement. A 40% deposit secures your place.

Step 4: Painting begins

I create the artwork and provide agreed updates along the way.

Step 5: Final payment and delivery

The balance is due before collection or delivery. Framing and shipping can be arranged if needed.

Is a portrait commission right for you?

A portrait commission may be a good fit if you want an original artwork with presence, story and feeling, and you connect with the way I paint.

This may not be the right fit if you are looking for a small budget portrait, a quick sketch, a digital file, or an exact photo copy.

Tasteful nude or partially nude portrait concepts may be considered where there is a clear artistic purpose and respectful communication. I do not accept explicit, sexualised or unsolicited intimate images.
