Creative Coffee Catch Up - October 2025

Creative Coffee Catch Up - October 2025

Kelly Batsiokis

A relaxed morning at The Brass with local artists, conversation, caffeine, and a few new ideas brewing.

Our first Creative Coffee Catch Up was held on 11 October at The Brass in Hendra - a cosy morning filled with good company, ideas, and caffeine. It was a small group this time, but the conversations were lively and generous. One artist even brought their partner, who joined in support - a reminder that creativity is often a shared journey.

Over coffee, we chatted about everything from venues to visibility - comparing experiences with traditional galleries, pay-to-hang spaces, and more relaxed alternative venues like breweries or cafes.

The conversation shifted to marketing strategies and the ongoing challenge of building a genuine subscriber list. We laughed about the “perils of exposure” - those moments when opportunities arise that sound flattering but don’t necessarily pay the bills.

After most people had headed off, a smaller conversation unfolded about pricing - how artists balance valuing their work while keeping it accessible. It’s a big topic, and one we’ll aim to unpack properly at a future catch-up.

These catch-ups are intentionally simple - buy your own coffee, bring your creative brain, and see where the conversation goes. They’re a space to share, listen, and connect with others navigating similar creative paths.

The next Creative Coffee Catch Up is planned for Saturday 15 November, 10am (venue TBC).

If you’d like to join in, add your name to the list below - it’s free, informal, and open to any artist or art lover who enjoys good coffee and creative conversation.
